Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is the best way to contact Sylvia?

I work full-time in a medical office. Most of my clients communicate with me by text. I either text or call back as soon as I am able.

What do I wear to Pilates?

For both Individual and Group sessions, I recommend wearing comfortable athletic wear that allows you to stretch and move easily. Clients are required to remove their shoes for both floor and reformer work.

Do you offer free sessions for first-timers?

Yes! In fact, I encourage new potential clients to try a class for free before purchasing a punch card. After that first class, most people are ready to commit–they feel that much better!

What if I need to cancel an Individual session?

I don’t mind if you cancel a session on occasion. I prefer a 24-hour notice. At a minimum, if you can give me a few hours advance notice, I can add a client who needs a last minute appointment. Or, I can give everyone else on my schedule a chance to come earlier. Please text me as soon as you know that you will need to cancel your session.

Who teaches the Individual and Group sessions?

I teach all of the Individual and Group sessions personally.

Can I do Pilates if I have an injury or a medical condition?

In most cases, yes. When you and I meet for the first time, I will ask about your objectives for Pilates exercise. I will also ask you about prior injuries, surgeries and medical conditions. If you are currently under a doctor’s care for any condition, I may ask you to wait to be released by your doctor.

What can I expect in my first session?

If you are attending your first individual session, I will ask you about your medical history. I will also ask you about your objectives for your Pilates workout: pain relief? strengthening? conditioning? The Pilates reformer allows me to customize moves for you depending on your abilities.
